“He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come. And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all,” Ephesians 1:20-23.
The unlimited, almighty power of God is clearly revealed in Holy Scripture from beginning to end. In the first chapter of Genesis, we learn that God said, “Let there be . . . and there was!” God created all things by the power of His almighty Word.
At the close of each of the six days, the Bible states that each day consisted of “the evening and the morning.” The days are also numbered from the first to the sixth day. That Scripture is talking about six normal days is also clear from the Book of Exodus: “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates. For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day,” Exodus 20:8-11. People who deny the six-day creation have a spiritual problem; they speak of a god who is not almighty. Their god is too small!
The almighty God created the heavens and the earth out of nothing. What great things have the Bible critics ever created other than trouble? And they cannot even create trouble out of nothing!
The almighty power of God was also demonstrated in the resurrection, the ascension, and the coronation of Christ. Paul writes, “He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named.” The resurrection of Jesus is so important in the teachings of the Christian truths.
In his First Epistle to the Corinthians, the apostle Paul emphasizes that if Christ was not raised from the dead, then we are asking people to believe in a dead Savior – and a dead Savior is no savior at all. “If Christ is not risen, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins! Then also those who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men the most pitiable,” 1 Corinthians 15:17-19. To the Romans, Paul wrote, “(Christ) was delivered up because of our offenses, and was raised because of our justification,” Romans 4:25.
The resurrected Jesus ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of God, “Far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come. And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.” The Lord Jesus is ruling the world. He is on top! All things are under His feet and under His power. He rules the world in the interest of the holy Christian Church, which is comprised of all and only believers in Jesus as the Son of God and our only Savior, who suffered, died, and rose again to conquer sin, death, and the devil.
Jesus is in a position of power, and is ruling in the kingdom of power, ruling over all creatures; He rules in the kingdom of grace, the holy Christian Church; and He rules in the kingdom of glory, heaven.
“Jesus, Lover of my soul,
Let me to Thy bosom fly,
While the nearer waters roll,
While the tempest still is high.
Hide me, O my Savior, hide,
Till the storm of life is past;
Safe into the haven guide,
Oh, receive my soul at last!” Amen.
