Amazing Grace Lutheran Church Green Bay

New to the Christian Faith?

Terrific… you are welcome here! On behalf of everyone at Amazing Grace Lutheran Church in Green Bay (and also Christian people everywhere), we are so glad that you found us and that you are interested to read and learn more. There is nothing more important in this world or in your life than Jesus Christ – who He is, what He did, and why He came.

If you’re completely new to the Christian faith, there are a handful of truths that will put you on a path toward getting your life and your future on the same page with God. Start with these and understand them first. Then over time, you can delve more deeply into the beauty of God’s Word and His promises as contained throughout the Bible.

With the rest of your life, you can study the great questions and mysteries of faith. And you can take advantage of the opportunity to learn and apply Scripture as taught from the rich Lutheran tradition. But for now, please meditate simply on the following two questions:

1) Do you believe that you are a sinner who needs to be saved?
2) Is Jesus Christ that Savior?

At its most basic level, this is Christianity. It isn’t about becoming a better or more successful person. It isn’t about what we can do to earn our way into a relationship with our Creator. It isn’t about our prayers or morality or our acts of service to others.

At its core, Christianity is the recognition that as human beings, we are not perfect (Romans 3:23). We are not holy. We daily sin against God and our brothers and sisters in our thoughts, words, and deeds.

Christianity is the understanding that without those sins forgiven, we are destined to spend eternity removed from God’s presence. And it is our humble belief that our Heavenly Father – because of His amazing love for us – has provided a way through His Son, Jesus Christ.

Here is the Gospel (the good news) of Jesus Christ in a nutshell:

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.” John 3:16-17

Some thoughts if your Christian journey is just beginning:

DON’T FIGHT IT…
No matter how good we try to be, we all fall short. We are all tempted. We all must be saved.

REALIZE THAT…
God loves you. It isn’t just that He loves everyone… He knows and loves you personally.

UNDERSTAND THAT…
Jesus Christ lived, died, and rose again for you. Not just for others… Jesus did that for you.

PICK UP…
a Study Bible and begin to read the Word. Start with the Book of John in the New Testament.

CONNECT…
with a local church that teaches the pure Law of God and Gospel of Jesus Christ.
